Graco is a global brand that has been in existence for nearly 60 years.
However, in 1942, when Graco Metal Products was launched in Philadelphia, USA it did not make products for babies. In the first 11 years of its life, Graco made machine and car parts for local manufacturers. When one of the founders left, the remaining partner decided to make his own line of products.
At that time, one of Graco's employees, a father of nine children, had often watched his wife soothe a tired baby with a swing in their backyard. Inspired by what he saw, he went to the drawing board and 18 months later the world's first wind-up infant swing, the Graco Swyngomatic®, was born.
From then on, Graco was in the baby products business. And after selling millions of swings, they launched further innovations. In 1987, the firm's Pack N' Play® Portable Playards, a playpen and travel cot in one, were designed with great success. In 1998, Graco acquired Century, a car seat manufacturer, and introduced the SnugRide infant car seat. In 2002, they launched the TurboBooster, a booster seat designed to help parents stay in compliance with many states’ passage of laws requiring children to stay in a car seat longer. In 2007, the Nautilus 3-in-1 car seat debuted, earning the “Best Bet” designation from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The Graco® brand of baby gear provides thoughtful, practical and dependable parenting solutions inspired by the instincts and best intentions of a loving parent.
