Presentation:
From Womb to First Feed: What Every New Parent Needs to Know
Birth is a physical experience for babies, not just parents. Birth is intense for a baby’s body, and what a baby carries out of that experience often shows up first in feeding. This can look like a painful latch, slow weight gain, a baby who tires before finishing a feed, or a family who has been told to supplement just to get the weight up. In this talk, Meaghan Beames explains the connection between a baby’s birth experience and common early struggles including feeding difficulties, reflux, and colic. She walks parents through what craniosacral therapy is, how bodywork in the first weeks after birth can support feeding and digestion, and what parents can do when feeding isn’t going the way they expected.
