The Baby Show, a Blue Ant Media company, is committed to providing a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment for everyone. We expect all participants—our exhibitors, speakers, event attendees, special guests, staff, vendors, suppliers, moderators, volunteers, sponsors, media and anyone else involved in the Show to treat others with respect and abide by our Code of Conduct.
The Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for participants’ behaviour, as well as the consequences for unacceptable behaviour.
Our Code of Conduct
- Treat everyone with courtesy and consideration
- Respect personal space and individual boundaries.
- Inappropriate behaviours such as harassment, discrimination, offensive language, verbal or physical threats, violence, abuse and hate speech will not be tolerated at any in-person events and/or digital platforms and community channels. See below for a list of what we consider inappropriate behaviours.
- Never act in a way that puts your own or other participants’ safety or security at risk.
Violation of the Code of Conduct may result in participants receiving warnings, removal from the show without a refund, banning from future events at the discretion of the organizers, and involvement of law enforcement if necessary. The severity of the consequences will depend on the nature of the violation.
We need your help to keep the community safe, accountable and responsible. Please contact sandyp@thebabyshows.com or make a report with staff at the in-person show office if you believe you have observed or experienced a violation of this Code of Conduct. All reports will remain confidential.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behaviours. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes, but is not limited to:
- Discrimination & Harassment: Any form of discrimination or harassment based on race, sex, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, disability, physical appearance, body size, marital status or diversity of perspectives. This includes actions that violate a person’s dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, or offensive environment.
- Sexual Harassment: Unwanted physical contact (touching, hugging, massaging, kissing), unwelcome sexual attraction (suggestive looks, staring, leering, propositions, sexual advances) or intrusive questions or comments of a sexual nature, whether verbal, physical or otherwise, in person or online via social media.
- Offensive Language & Gestures: Verbal abuse, profanity, sexually explicit language, or racial, religious or ethnic slurs, and obscene gestures.
- Inappropriate or Offensive Materials: Displaying or distributing offensive images or any content that is harassing, abusive, discriminatory, or demeaning.
- Stalking & Unauthorized Attention: Following, photographing, or recording of individuals without explicit consent in a way that causes discomfort or apprehension.
- Threats & Intimidation: Threats, whether verbal, physical or written, including menacing gestures, or any actions meant to intimidate.
- Physical Harassment & Violence: Pushing, shoving, or any use of physical force.
- Weapons & Dangerous Items: Possessing or displaying weapons or any other item used to threaten or intimidate.
- Property Damage: Deliberately damaging the venue or personal property; altering or obscuring safety signage, or obstructing exits.
- Disruptive Behavior: Assembling with the purpose of disturbing the peace or committing an offense.
Applying the Code of Conduct
This Code of Conduct applies to all Blue Ant Media consumer Tradeshow events, including National Home Show, Fall Home Show, Home + Backyard Show, Spring Cottage Life Show, Fall Cottage Life Show, Ottawa Cottage Life & Backyard Show, Spring Baby Show Toronto, Fall Baby Show Toronto, Fall Baby Show Vancouver, The Women’s Healthy Show and Seasons Christmas Show (both in-person and virtually), community sites, social media channels and digital platforms. Participants include our exhibitors, speakers, event attendees, special guests, staff, vendors, suppliers, moderators, volunteers, sponsors, media and anyone else involved in the Show.
Any participant asked to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behaviour or otherwise breaches the Code of Conduct, the event organizers, their representatives and/or security may take action such as:
- Removal from the show without warning or refund.
- Banning from future events, including disqualification from attending, speaking, exhibiting and all other forms of participation.
- Reporting unlawful behaviour to appropriate law enforcement if necessary.
Social Media Guidelines
The Baby Show is responsible for protecting the integrity of our community. We ask that all comments and uploaded materials remain respectful to our community as a whole; and shared in accordance with Facebook’s Terms of Service, X’s Terms of Service, and Instagram’s Terms of Service.
The Baby Show reserves the right to remove postings that are:
- abusive, defamatory, or obscene;
- fraudulent, deceptive or misleading;
- in violation of any intellectual property right of another;
- unconstructive opinions;
- in violation of any law or regulation, or
- otherwise offensive, graphically or in tone.
The Baby Show reserves the right to block individuals who persistently do not comply with our guidelines. The Baby Show does not endorse, and shall not be held responsible for, the accuracy or content of any information, opinions, claims, or advice posted by fans.
We reserve the right to assess whether someone has complied with this Code of Conduct and decide what the appropriate actions are, based on the relevant terms and conditions. Blue Ant Media reserves the right to make any changes or alterations to the Code of Conduct at any time and is non-negotiable.
